It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…

…it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way…”

It was the best of times, all the adventures, the great friends, the wonderful meals, the memorable wines, the landscapes, the pretty little hotels and their friendly hostes. The amazing architecture, the fascinating engineering of the Canal du Midi, and the company of a faithful friend that followed me on my crazy adventure.

It was the worst of times, saying good bye to my friends, old and new, hoping that it’s just à bientôt, all the dying trees along Canal du Midi, fitting packed bicycles in small cars to get to the airport, and leaving this beautiful country that I have loved for such a long time.

At any rate, with open arms and ready for my next adventure, I am on my way back to Mexico City. First Stop in the New World. The capital of the 21st Century, (David Lida. Riverhead Books)

Thank you all.
